Mommy & Me
Rock-n-Roll Baby
Practicing with the whole family creates a foundation for yoga in the home. As your baby grows he or she will have a basic understanding of most yoga poses.
Try Rock-N-Roll baby yoga to relieve stress and ease tension while getting a mini back massage.
With your baby on their back facing you
hold their hands and scoop up their ankles.
Look into their eyes and praise them
attempt to keep their spine elongated as you gently roll them from side to side.
sing Rock and Roll baby.
If babies wont look at you use a favorite toy or bright object to keep their attention.
Also try Rock-n-Roll baby with Mom.
Moms place baby heart to heart while sitting up on your yoga mats.
Let babies feet hang comfortably over your sides.
Hug baby tight as you raise your calves parallel to the floor knees bent at 90 degrees.
Kick your feet back and forth to roll you and babyup and down.
Tell your baby how good they have done and finish with tons of kisses.
The more you say Rock-n-Roll baby the more prepared for yoga they will be when the hear it next.
Most of all have fun bonding with your baby!

Family Yoga Game
Flower Growing
Have Family in child’s pose, curled up as little seeds,
have one child stand-up & wiggle their fingers to rain on all the seeds,
have another child sprinkle sunshine and love on the seeds,
then look up clap your hands together at your heart to sprout,
begin to stretch your hands and bodies to the sky,
all the way up on you tippy toes,
eventually opening up your arms or petals and growing into a strong, beautiful flower.
Yoga tips: Ask your child what color their flower is, plant a flower together and watch it grow, talk about the life cycle of flowers or visi a field of flowers & pick a bouquet. Most importanatly enjoy your time with your child!
Teen Yoga
Stressless Studies Tip #1
Twist-n-blow
Remind your Teen that they are responsible for their bodies for the rest of their lives. So it is important to learn how to take care of your body now!
Have teen sit in any chair comfortably feet flat on ground.
Tell them to stretch their head to the sky to elongate their spine.
With back straight reach right hand across chest to grab left edge of chair.
Feel the twist as you twist the toxins out of your organs, like ringing water out of a rag. Exhale as you go de.ep into the twist
Inhale as you return back to starting position and repeat with left arm to right edge of chair.
Finish in the chair by laying your chest over your legs and reaching for your toes. Inhale and Exhale slowly through your nose 3x and return to start position.
This pose encourages good posture and will give your teen a natural boost of energy as they gently exercise their body from the inside out!
Daycare Yoga!
Popcorn Pose
This is a great poses for parents and teachers to use to help relieve children of all their extra energy.
Have kids stand tall and then explain that popcorn
starts off as small kernels
Bend and hug your knees to become a small kernel.
Tell them it takes time to pop popcorn and ask them to count to 15 with you then you hear a...
Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle...
Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle...
Sizzel, Sizzel, sizzel..and POP
let the kids jump up and begin to Pop, Pop, Pop like crazy untill they get all there wiggles out.
Have fun playing this over and over.
Ask the kids if popcorn is healthy, explain to them the difference between regular and buttered popcorn etc..
Make popcorn balls, trail mix or popcorn art.
Enjoy Yoga on and off the mat!
Partner Yoga
Open Heart
Choose a partner and sit on their yoga mat with them.
Stand up straight like a pencil both facing the same direction.
The child in back reaches for the child in fronts hands
the child in front leans forward with a straight body leading with their heart,
the person in back supports their friend in front by placing one foot forward and holding their hands .
The child in front comes up and the children switch places.
Repeat to open your heart, chest and shoulders.
This a great counterposture for kids who have huge heavy backpacks and parents who work at a computer all day!
Just for Fun Family Yoga
London Bridges
Sit in staff pose (legs in front of you sitting in the shape of an L) ,
high 5 the air & place your hands behind your back,
bend your knees up and lift your tummy to make a bridge.
Sing London Bridges falling down....
and allow the children to go under your bridge.
When the song ends everyone falls down and starts over again!
If you have baby or a toddler that can't participate, put them on your bridge (belly) while the other children go under your bridge (back). they will enjoy the ride and know how to play London Bridges when they are older.
Dragon Chain
To celebrate the chineese new year,
have the children stand up on their mats and face to the right,
have them place their hands on the childs shoulders in front of them.
Instruct them to go around in a circle
while directing them to bend their knees and crouch down
or to go up on thier tippy toes.
Keep them moving.
Upside-down Name game
Great game to instill some energy in your children!
Standing straight like a pencil everyone jumps and faces the back of their mat.
Instruct them to jump their legs open into mountain pose while facing backwards.
Have them high 5 the air and fold forward placing their hands on the mat.
They should then be able to look between their legs at the rest of the group. Take turns saying your names or favorite color etc..
then collapse into rock pose (knees tucked under your bottom with head down)
and start over so each child can have a turn sharing.
If names aren’t necessary. Have the children share favorite animal, sport, healthy food etc..
Most importantly have fun exercising with your children!
~Namaste~
